Bonds - Current Yield

DEFINITION

Current yield is the simplest measure of yield. Current yield is the income received per annum divided by the price of the bond (excluding accrued interest).

FORMULA

With:

CY = current yield expressed in %.
R = coupon rate.
P = price of the bond.

The current yield is:

CY = (R/P) * 100

Yield to maturity.
